Benefits of Pomegranate

Enjoy the Benefits of Pomegranate

The Middle Eastern fruit is claimed to be effective against heart disease, high blood pressure, inflammation and some cancers, including prostate cancer. Pomegranate is a good source of fibre. It also contains vitamins A, C and E, iron and other antioxidants (notably tannins).
Pomegranate juice contains higher levels of antioxidants than most other fruit juices. It also has three times more antioxidants than red wine and green tea. The antioxidants in pomegranate juice can help remove free radicals, protect cells from damage, and reduce inflammation.
1) Antioxidant Strength: Organic pomegranate powder is an excellent source of potent antioxidants like flavonoids and polyphenols, which reduce oxidative damage to cells caused by harmful free radicals. ... Pomegranates are also a good source of protective minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorous.
According to Joel Fuhrman, not only do arils lower cholesterol, they can "lower high blood pressure and increase the speed at which heart blockages melt away." 3. Overeating prevention. For being so small, pomegranates are surprisingly high in fiber—one of the most important nutrients for sustainable weight loss.

Benefits of Acai Berry

Benefits of Acai Berry

Enjoy the benefits of the acai berry in a tasty smoothie!
The acai berry is an inch-long, reddish-purple fruit. It comes from the acai palm tree, which is native to Central and South America. Some studies show that acai fruit pulp is even richer in antioxidants than cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, or blueberries.
Acai berries contain antioxidants, fiber and heart-healthy fats. They may have more antioxidant content than other commonly eaten berries, such as cranberries, blueberries and strawberries
WebMD asked diet and nutrition experts for the truth about acai and weight loss. Researchers have found the acai berry has antioxidants that may protect cells from damage caused by harmful molecules in the body called "free radicals," and may possibly help against diseases such as heart disease and cancer.

But some of acai's most powerful health benefits come from plant compounds.
The most notable one among these is anthocyanins, which give acai berries their deep purple color and act as antioxidants in the body.  Antioxidants are important because they neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals throughout the body.
If free radicals are not neutralized by antioxidants, they can damage cells and lead to a number of diseases, including diabetes, cancer and heart disease. Acai berries have an incredibly high amount of antioxidants, edging out other antioxidant-rich fruits like blueberries and cranberries. The antioxidant content of foods is typically measured by an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) score. In the case of acai, 100 grams of frozen pulp has an ORAC of 15,405, whereas the same amount of blueberries has a score of 4,669
The acai berry’s deep purple pigment is responsible for its antioxidant benefits, which are similar to those in other dark berries, such as blueberries and blackberries. The pigment contains anthocyanins (pronounced anth-oh-SIGH-a-nins), a powerful class of phytonutrients — nutritious components of plants — that serve as antioxidants. Foods that contain anthocyanins have strong red, blue, or purple colors.
